The Top 3 Yountville Wineries: Napa County’s Hidden Gem
Northern California’s Wine Country is home to over 800 wineries, ranging from small, family-owned businesses in downtown districts to sprawling, 200-acre estates in the picturesque countryside. Napa County itself spans nearly 800 square miles; although, much of the tourism lies along scenic St. Helena Highway between Napa and Calistoga. This 27 mile stretch of road weaves through several quintessential Northern California winery hubs, namely Yountville, home to Mosaic Hotel Group’s North Block Hotel, an award-winning sanctuary in the heart of town. North Block is steps from a bevy of opulent Yountville wineries, including the likes of Girard Winery and Jessup Cellars.
3 Distinctive Yountville Wineries: Complexity at Every Turn
There’s no denying the lavish, romantic allure of North Block Hotel (and Yountville, for that matter). North Block’s European-style respite is within walking distance of nearly a dozen Yountville wineries, with a handful of others along the town’s rolling outskirts. It acts as a Wine Country hub, as it’s centrally located and draped in sophistication. To enhance the guest experience, the Mosaic Hotel Group hand-selected three unique Yountville wineries (as seen below). The collective brilliance of this vino trio is altogether breathtaking.
1. Jessup Cellars
Jessup Cellars (unlike its sister property, Handwritten) rests across Washington Street from North Block Hotel. Thus, the team at Mosaic Hotel Group has plenty of experience taste-testing Jessup’s medal-winning vino. The Jessup team has an affinity for local art, supreme hospitality, and, of course, complex vinification. As is the case with all of these Yountville wineries, reservations are required.
2. Goosecross Cellars
Goosecross’s spacious outdoor courtyard overlooks its lush vineyard, which rests at the foothills of a small, yet undeniably heartwarming mountain range due west. The six-year-old indoor facility still looks brand new with its large bay windows, sleek flooring, and vaulted ceilings. Although the wine often takes a backseat to the mountain vistas, Goosecross’s red varietals are amongst the best in Napa County.
3. Girard Winery
North Block Hotel shares a property line with Girard Winery. So, it’s no surprise that the two establishments have grown quite fond of each other. Girard boasts two locations along St. Helena Highway (Calistoga being the other). Still, the Washington Street “campus” remains one of the most popular Yountville wineries, especially for those who prefer to explore the town on foot. Choose between the intimate tasting room or the semi-spacious outdoor patio and prepare for a $30 tasting that acts as a luscious voyage across the Seven Seas of flavor.
North Block, the Finest Napa County Hotel
Mosaic Hotel Group’s North Block Hotel remains a beacon of light in a trying time for so many Californians. Prospective guests are urged to read North Block’s updated safety protocols prior to arrival. Earlier this year, the hotel earned the title of “Number One Resort Hotel in California” by Travel + Leisure, primarily because of its fireplace-lit courtyard, on-site spa, and sumptuous bathrooms, all within steps of the finest vineyards and restaurants in Wine Country. Meanwhile, El Dorado Hotel & Kitchen and Olema House, North Block Hotel’s sister properties, also provide award-winning experiences.
